Sofia Motsia
MA Creative Writing, BA Theatre studies
I’m Sofia.
I was born in Katerini, Pieria and grew up in Athens.
I am a graduate of the Department of Theatre Studies of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Peloponnese. In addition, I hold a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of Western Macedonia and the Hellenic Open University.
The title of my thesis, “Creative Writing, Mindfulness and Self-awareness”, refers to how creative writing can help to practice Mindfulness and act as a means of self-awareness.Â
The Mindful Writing courses on the website’s learning platform are based on this study.
My goal
Writing has always been my favourite way of expressing myself. However, it was when I experienced a particularly stressful period in which I used writing differently that I realized the value of mindful writing. Mindful writing helped me to process my thoughts and feelings and to understand myself and my experiences more deeply.
My goal is to share my knowledge about the benefits of mindful writing within a safe and free space of writing expression. Through guided writing exercises, journal prompts, creative writing prompts and feedback, participants can explore, experiment and experience the transformative power of mindful writing.
All of us are the lone travellers of our personal inner journey. Mindful writing can help us understand that path, embrace it, and evolve personally and as writers.
My passion
My passion for the arts and self-expression extends to my free time. I explore my creativity through painting, digital art and photography. Hobbies are an outlet for my creative energy while allowing me to express my inner world, reflect on my experiences, and capture the beauty and complexity of our world.
I am always looking for new ways to tell stories and communicate with the world, whether through a brushstroke, a click of the camera or a word on the page.Â
The beauty and power of art constantly inspire me, and I make sure to bring that inspiration to everything I do.
